Lab12 was not conceived as a business plan.
It emerged as the natural evolution of a passion that began in early childhood.
From a very young age, Stratos Vichos developed an unusual relationship with sound. Toys were not conventional — they were loudspeakers, cables, and electronic circuits. This instinctive fascination was later reinforced through formal studies in electronics, providing him with a solid technical foundation and a deep understanding of how sound is created, shaped, and delivered.
For many years, he worked professionally in the field of audio systems, actively involved in sales, system design, and installations of all kinds — from high-fidelity home systems to complex professional audio applications. This wide exposure allowed him to gain experience that goes beyond individual products and focuses on the complete listening experience, across different environments and demands.
What ultimately defined his approach, however, was not technical range or specifications.
It was the human reaction to music.
In 2011, a serious accident abruptly interrupted this trajectory. For several months, Stratos was confined and removed from his professional activity. This period became not only a pause, but a moment of profound reassessment.
During his recovery, he began designing and building simple audio devices for personal use. His choice to work with vacuum tubes was deliberate. Not as a nostalgic reference, but as a means of expression. To him, tubes possess the ability to convey naturalness, intensity, and emotional depth — qualities that cannot be fully described by measurements or specifications.
These early creations soon found their way into the hands of friends and clients. The response was immediate. It became clear that the joy of listening had returned — this time through devices entirely designed and built by himself.

Lab12 was born in a small, improvised workshop — a storage space in a house. The street number was 12. The name followed naturally.
Not as a branding exercise, but as a statement of origin.
The year 2012 marked the official founding of Lab12.
In 2013, the company took its first step onto the international stage by participating in the High End Show in Munich — the world’s most important high-end audio exhibition. Quietly. Without expectations. With persistence and a clearly defined philosophy.
Recognition came gradually and organically. From 2016–2017 onwards, Lab12 began to establish its presence internationally. In 2018, the company moved to significantly larger facilities, expanding its product range and global reach. From that point forward, Lab12 has maintained a consistent and growing presence at major international audio exhibitions around the world, reinforcing its position within the global high-end audio community.
As Lab12 grew, it did not evolve in isolation. Around Stratos, a team gradually formed — people who share the same passion for music, sound, and attention to detail. A team united by common values and a shared vision, working not merely productively, but creatively.
In 2025, driven by the increasing demands for space and production capacity, the company expanded and doubled its facilities, further supporting its growing international presence and manufacturing needs. Today, Lab12 exports to more than 35 countries, with about 250 selling points worldwide. Yet its philosophy remains unchanged.
Every Lab12 device is designed with a single purpose:
to transmit emotion through sound.
